Charbon de Beringen² : Show and Open Studio

Oh ooooh, time flies. I’ve been so busy that I couldn’t take the time to sit down and write a blog post.
But please be welcome on my solo show an Open Studio in a really unique location

Solo show in the “winding house” (Dubbel Ophaalgebouw)
At the occasion of the memorial of the 30 years closure of the
coal mine of Beringen, you will be able to see An’s paintings in
the unique environment of the “double winding house” at
be-MINE. This part of historical patrimony, now open for visitors,
is located between the two shaft towers of Beringen’s
coal mine site

Open studio
During the show An V. is housing her studio in this building.
She is working on new paintings, inspired by its environment.
A unique opportunity to have a look behind artist’s studio
walls. And to see how the coal left on the conveyor belts of the
coal mine is getting a new destiny. A destiny with the same
brightness as the light reflected by the coal.

The exposition is open
October 6 to 27, 2019
on wed, sat & sun 2 – 5 p.m. and by appointment

Artist talk: Thursday, October 17 from 7 to 9 p.m.
Only by reservation. Admission: € 8

Nocturne: Friday, October 25 from 6 to 10 p.m. Free access

The ‘Double winding house” (Dubbel Ophaalgebouw) is located
at be-MINE between the 2 shaft towers, behind the power plant
Address: be-MINE, Koolmijnlaan 201, 3582 Beringen

O oooh. It’s been way too long..

.. since the last time I wrote something. And this is just a quick note to say I’m still alive. And kicking :-). Lots of new plans, lots of hunger to make new things, but first I have to wrap up the old.
I’m behind schedule regarding my PC work. I didn’t finished my Artist Residency story yet, while even my expo is history. I’ve got lots of pictures and video’s to process, to show you what I’ve been working on.
So that’s my priority at this very moment, updating my portfolio. I also have a lot to tell about my coalpaint, I stopped sharing my story at the moment I started to make large paintings with it. But all I really really want to do… is to paint.
So stay tuned, I will be back soon with an updated portfolio. I hope ;-)

Painting rack, and geraniums in winter

It could have been a painting title, but it isn’t. It’s a picture title ;-). For years I’m talking about how I need a proper rack to store my paintings. Now I finally have it.

Painting storage, custom made painting rack

Previous, my paintings were stalled in a very small room, difficult to acces. Now I do have a practical space to show them to curators and potential buyers. I found a carpenter willing to do the job on Twizzi. And I’m so happy about it, that for once I don’t mind to do some advertising for free: Gerry from www.houtmetstijl.eu had some real good ideas. Sleepovers, on the other hand, are going to be less content, because our guest bed is now for sale on 2e hands.be. Helas, one cannot have all in live. But you do can have much ;-).

Put Geraniums inside before it starts to freeze outside

One thing a person can have, is geraniums in winter. We take them indoors as soon as it starts to freeze outside. They’re happy in my studio and in the guest / painting room. Blessed to see those cheerful summer flowers, it makes winter so much lighter. Oooh summer <3… I can almost smell you.

Art Brussels 2017

I had a blast Friday at Art Brussels! I saw a lot of real good artworks, so it was difficult to make a small selection.
Although: I only had my phone with me to take pictures (stupid, stupid, stupid), so a number of photos just failed.
At the bright side: that made this selection more easy :)

Art Brussels 2017 - Pascal Convert @ Galerie Eric Dupont

New: blog in Flenglish!

Hi there, welcome! I’m blogging since, uhm, 2007. Really, that long. But I only recently started blogging in English, that’s why it’s so quiet in here. I’ll translate once in a while an older article too. My English isn’t perfect, so I welcome you to discover: Flenglish! Flenglish is a very cute language, spoken and written by someone who usually speaks Flemish. I like to think it’s better English then Google translate, but if you feel otherwise: feel free to visit my blog in Flemish (something like Dutch) and let Google get loose on that. Have fun!

PS: feel free to correct my mistakes, I’ll not be trapped on my toes :-D (*) I promise.
(*) I won’t be offended
