I’m developing my own paint with coal, mixed with ‘regular’ products as well as with Super Base.
And with Black 2.0. That combination is really really matte.
And really really black when I use purchased coal (antracite).
The brownish paint is made of coal from the last Belgian coalmine, Zolder, which closed 25 years ago.
Black 2.0 and Super Base are products from the British artist Stuart Semple, who made them as a reaction against the egoism of Anish Kapoor, who doesn’t want to share his black. Artists all over the world are trying to help him to get a better black for everyone (except for Anish). I’m one of them.
