Man Moved Mountain

During her residency at Le Charbonnage Art Residencies An Vanderlinden created a series of paintings exploring the mining-shaped landscape of Genk. For the first time, she used watercolor paint made from coal, incorporating coal from all three former Genk mines: Waterschei, Winterslag, and Zwartberg. Her work reflects on the power of human collaboration and the lasting marks of mining on the landscape.
