{"id":3655,"date":"2017-04-07T14:36:06","date_gmt":"2017-04-07T12:36:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.anv.be\/blog\/?p=3655\/"},"modified":"2018-04-01T13:30:10","modified_gmt":"2018-04-01T11:30:10","slug":"black-2-0-is-here-sharetheblack","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.anv.be\/en\/blog\/2017\/04\/07\/black-2-0-is-here-sharetheblack\/","title":{"rendered":"Black 2.0 is here! #ShareTheBlack"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>OK, I have to admit, I&#8217;ve got\u00a0it\u00a0a little bit longer then today :)\u00a0but it&#8217;s only recently in the press (lots of Stuart Semple interviews), and I really didn&#8217;t had the time to write.<br \/>\nSo it arrived, <a href=\"http:\/\/stuartsemple.com\/projects\/black-v1-0-beta-worlds-mattest-flattest-black-art-material\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Black 2.0<\/a>! Stuart Semple\u00a0used the feedback he received from artists all over the world\u00a0to improve his\u00a0<a href=\"\/blog?p=3657\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Black\u00a01.0 beta<\/a>, and came with a better, darker, blacker black.<br \/>\nIt&#8217;s a pre-mixed bottle this time, and his mail said it&#8217;s the most pigmented, flattest, mattest, black acrylic paint in the world.<br \/>\nI did some tests the minute my package arrived: made it from the front door to my studio in 0.5 seconds ;-).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.anv.be\/blog\/uploaded_images\/Zwart-2.0-is-er_F125\/IMG_9523.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" style=\"background-image: none; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px; border: 0px;\" title=\"#ShareTheBlack\" src=\"\" alt=\"Black 2.0 versus Black 1 beta \" width=\"380\" height=\"380\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>No comprehensive report\u00a0this time, instead I made a little movie about a black rabbit:<br \/>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"The blackest rabbit : Black 2.0 in action - #ShareTheBlack\" width=\"1778\" height=\"1000\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/YW0rJVxnDI0?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<h2>So, Black 2.0, is it really a better black?<\/h2>\n<p>Where we come from:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>We had <a href=\"\/blog?p=3657\">Black 1.0 Beta<\/a>: pigment + SuperBase = more black \/ more matte then all other\u00a0black paints &#8220;normal&#8221; human beings\u00a0can buy. But it was not black enough.<\/li>\n<li>my experiment SuperBase + ivory black pigment =\u00a0more black then 1<\/li>\n<li>my own black pigment (I&#8217;ll talk about that later) + SuperBase = a little bit more black then 2<\/li>\n<li>Now we&#8217;ve got Black 2.0, and it is &#8230; more black \/ more darken then my black!<br \/>\nSo yes, Black 2.0 is a better black.<br \/>\nBut, I wouldn&#8217;t be myself if<span id=\"result_box\" class=\"short_text\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"alt-edited\"> I leave it at that<\/span><\/span><span id=\"t-served-community-button\" class=\"trans-verified-button goog-toolbar-button\"><\/span>, so I can already tell you that<\/li>\n<li>Black 2.0 + my own pigment = even a little bit more black :)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>But do we have a &#8220;Vantablack&#8221; for everyone? A black that absorbs 99,6% of all the light? No. But we <em>do<\/em> have a black that&#8217;s much more black then everything we\u00a0had before. And this is just a plain acrylic paint, everyone can use it. Except for Anish Kapoor, of course.<br \/>\nSurey NanoSystems\u00a0also came &#8220;on\u00a0the market&#8221; (sarcastic giggle) with some kind of &#8220;Vantablack 2.0&#8221;: VBx1. It&#8217;s a spray. I have to say: impressive movies on YouTube.<\/p>\n<h2>Frederik De Wilde<\/h2>\n<p>But the most important of all questions at this moment is: how&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/frederik-de-wilde.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Frederik De Wilde<\/a> doing? I remember some press articles years ago about a Belgian artist who invented the Blackest Black, in cooperation with Nasa. They invented the nano tubes, if I&#8217;m correct.<br \/>\nSo when I first heard about the Anish Kapoor versus Stuart Semple saga, I supposed he worked for\/with Surray NanoSystems.<br \/>\nWell, no. SurrayWhatever probably used knowledge of the scientist who worked with Frederik De Wilde.
